The Olpac Incident Investigation Course offers three nationally recognised competencies drawn from the qualification PUA41004 Certificate IV in Public Safety (Leadership). The competencies can also be applied to other recognised qualifications that include the three competencies.
This basic investigation course provides the knowledge, skills and techniques necessary for effective incident investigations. The skills acquired can be applied to a broad range of investigations including workplace incidents and vehicle incidents. Further training would be required to undertake complex collision analysis but those who complete this course will be able to record and preserve valuable evidence that would otherwise be lost once a scene it returned to its pre-incident condition.
Participants also learn about an incident investigator's role and responsibilities, interviewing skills and giving evidence in a judicial or quasi-judicial setting.
• Incidents and Investigations

• Report Writing
Depending on any special client requirements, the course normally consists of seven modules and it is usually conducted over three consecutive days to maintain continuity and the dynamics of the training.
Participants learn through a balanced mix of oral instruction, practical demonstrations and practical exercises.
The training includes team based scenario exercises to consolidate class room instruction. It culminates with a court room scenario where participants give evidence about their investigation and they are cross examined on the investigation methodologies, findings and the justification for any recommendations they make to prevent similar incidents.
This course can be adapted to suit individual client needs provided the competency material is adequately covered during the training. For example: Some clients may not need training on legal issues other than giving evidence. Instead, they may prefer a greater focus on vehicle behaviour, and how to interpret physical evidence associated with incidents involving motor vehicles.
The course instructors are professional and qualified incident investigators. Instructors have extensive experience in a broad range of investigations, ranging from minor industrial matters through to very serious criminal investigations.
